I have done research but I need someone to help me out on narrowing the first 5 (or however many digits in front of the serial #). So I have found that 5 digit number which is 81,XXX which tells me that it is a '58, but it doesn't help me because it's not the entire VIN.

From this wonderful website I learned there was also a serial number located on top of the frame on the passenger side. It has a 225 buick v6 which obviously wasn't the original engine and also it doesn't have the original dash so there is no sticker there. I'm the new owner of the Jeep and the old owner evidently isn't very good with putting things in safe places because he has lost the Title as well as the Original VIN tag located on the firewall. I need the help of you guys who know their old CJ-5 Jeeps, specifically a '58 Willys.
